Our Story

N Square, the Nuclear Threat Initiative, and the Rhode Island School of Design’s Center for Complexity forged a novel partnership to bring a fresh approach to a deep-rooted problem space.

We also studied how the world around the system was changing, developing foresight tools that help global audiences understand the larger currents shaping the threat landscape over the next  two decades.

We mapped the nuclear weapons system, using causal loop diagramming to create a detailed topview of the behaviors and beliefs driving the nuclear status quo.

We are now putting all our work to practical use in support of global decision-making and policy formation.

Our Work

We are experimenting with interventions with the potential to reshape systems for human and planetary security.

We are making sense of the ways our futures might unfold so we can understand what will become newly possible.

We are facilitating global leaders through a protocol for making near-term decisions with long-tail security implications.

We are using data about change to challenge long-standing mental models about nuclear deterrence, continuing our commitment to a world without nuclear weapons.
